New Zealand pace bowler Daryl Tuffey was ruled out of the World Cup on Friday, Black Caps general manager Lindsay Crocker said. New Zealand now hope to replace him with Chris Martin. Tuffey injured his right arm, which has been operated on in the past, during New Zealand's 114-run win against Canada on Thursday in what was his first match of the tournament.

Lou Vincent made up for the two ducks he had scored in his first two matches at this World Cup by smashing a century against Canada. And wicket-keeper Brendon McCullum smashed the fastest ever World Cup fifty, off just 20 balls as New Zealand thumped 363-5 in their 50 overs. But Canada went about chasing down the mammoth total with gusto with captain John Davison hitting a 23-ball fifty. He was out for 52 as Canada reached 77-1 after 10 overs.

Flintoff not ready to give up wine

England scored a comfortable 51-run victory over Canada in a World Cup Group C match. England were some way short of their A game but still did enough to register their first victory of the World Cup by seeing off minnows Canada by 51 runs, Edmund Joyce and Paul Collingwood slammed impressive half-centuries. England stuttered slightly in the middle overs with 38-year-old Dhaniram picking up three quick wickets, including Kevin Pietersen caught and bowled for five, with only eight runs added. Chasing a target of 280 to win, Canada was reeling with two of its batsmen already back in the hut in the 3rd match of Group C against England in St Lucia on Sunday.

The first five teams qualified for the tournament beginning in the West Indies Sunday. This is the third time Canada will be playing in a World Cup.
